  • Dancho Announces 2024 Legislative Priorities: Security & Service

Dear Friends and Neighbors, This week, I joined my colleagues in unveiling our 2024 Legislative Priorities. Emphasizing Security & Service, our plan will maintain the state’s fiscal stability while making Connecticut a more affordable and safe place to live. ️Why it matters: It is important to understand what issues we will be addressing as we approach the start of the legislative session on Wednesday, February 7th. >> Find the full plan HERE: securityandservicect.com << During the 2017 Legislative Session, my colleagues and I successfully passed a bipartisan budget agreement establishing fiscal guardrails that have since allowed Connecticut to build our Rainy Day Fund and pay down long-term debt, while financially navigating the pandemic. Recently, majority party leaders have called for a retreat from these guardrails despite their success in implementing smarter spending habits for our state. Our plan for 2024 includes amending the State Constitution to protect these time-tested spending guardrails, while also proposing legislation that cracks down on crime, eases the cost of living, and establishes our state as a safe and affordable place to live. Topics Include: Deterring Crime Reforming Juvenile Justice Securing Victim’s Rights Reducing the Sales Tax Standing with our Law Enforcement Stopping the Electric Vehicle Mandate Relieving Municipalities of “Right to Read” Agenda Making Our Government and Elections Transparent and Accountable Strengthening Workforce Pipeline Spurring Economic Growth Protecting Residents from Substance Abuse Blocking Elimination of School Resource Officers Don’t Forget: The 2024 Legislative Session will address a wide variety of topics that matter to YOU. As always, please never hesitate to reach out to me with your questions, ideas, and concerns so that I can continue making your voice heard in Hartford! • Dancho Announces Run for Second Term

(STRATFORD) — On Thursday, State Representative Laura Dancho, who represents the 120th House District of Stratford, CT, announced her plan to run for a second term this November. Dancho, who notably unseated a two-term legislator in 2022, has successfully developed a reputation for supporting bipartisan solutions that promote affordability, safety, and local issues in her first year as representative. “I am honored to represent the hardworking residents of Stratford,” said Dancho. “I have always acknowledged our diverse community of ideas and will continue to echo resident concerns in Hartford. Moving ahead, my legislative goals are simple: propose and support legislation to secure a more affordable, safe, and sustainable place to call home.” In her first year, Dancho helped propose and pass the largest tax cut in Connecticut history as a part of the state budget agreement. She also paved the way for several new laws that include protecting our seniors from financial exploitation (PA 23-161), fully funding Education Cost Sharing (ECS) grants (PA 23-208), improving veteran services (PA 23-34), and growing our firefighter and EMS forces (PA 23-1) while ensuring families of fallen officers receive financial support. Recognized for her experience as a former Stratford Town Council member, Dancho also serves on the legislative Environment, Transportation, and Finance, Revenue and Bonding committees. On the Environment Committee, she co-sponsored legislation that prevents the harvesting of horseshoe crabs, designates shorebird protection areas, and provides municipal funding for the removal of dead or hazardous trees. Back home, Dancho continues to advocate for quality education, police and first responders, and her community’s small businesses. She frequently attends Stratford Community Conversations, participates in events at public schools and the Baldwin Center, and has recently launched her “Stratford Spotlight” series, which looks to feature Stratford-owned businesses and organizations. In 2023, Dancho was recognized for having a 100% pro-small business voting record by the Connecticut Business and Industry Association (CBIA). She also received the 2023 Karl Sholanich Award for ‘Republican of the Year’ from the Stratford Republican Town Committee for her volunteer service, commitment, and unwavering dedication to our town.
